The Kourageous Karter Foundation aims to make life better for medically complex kids and the people who love them. More than that we aim to make the world more aware, inclusive, and accessible. We do this in a variety of ways including using this website as a way to showcase resources and foster support for other kids

Kaidon is 4 years old and lives in Oklahoma with his adoptive parents, Abbi and Brandon. He has a younger sister (age 2.5) and a baby sister on the way!
Kaidon was brutally injured as a 10 week old by his biological father. He was taken to a local hospital in Oklahoma which is where his mom, Abbi was working. Abbi knew he was meant to be her son, so Abbi and Brandon quickly became his foster parents. They were able to adopt him by his first birthday!
As a result of the injury, Kaidon is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and vision loss. He LOVES being a kid, being outside, music, lights, any kind movement to be involved. Like so many, Abbi gave up her job to be a full-time caregiver. Her husband works as a police officer, and they do everything they can to give Kaidon access to therapies and treatments to optimize his quality of life.
Thank you to everyone who supported, donated, shared, and/or participated in our 2nd Annual KKF Fun Run. Because of your generosity we accomplished our goal of providing one Trexo scholarship. Application for 2023 is now closed. Our BOD will be voting on the recipient October 12! Recipient announcement TBD
Thank you for making this event possible!
Convaid generously donated a brand new medical stroller as part of our silent auction. Did you know insurance typically only covers one wheelchair OR stroller every 3-5 years? Yet families need options to transport their medically complex children safely among different activities and terrain. Not only did this donation raise additional funds, it made this necessity affordable for a little girl that needs one!
Our Mission: To make life better for medically complex kids and the people who love them.
Our Motto: Kourage. Strength in the face of grief or pain
We formed our organization to provide and equip caregivers with tools to help navigate the systems with which rely upon to “do” this life. Here we share resources we’ve found educational and helpful in our own journey.
From the beginning we have had the desire to help “fill in the gaps” and pay it forward. We have all sorts of ideas and ways we want to impact others! Please take a few moments to discover what we have planned . We're very excited to make difference!
